A reporter from Shin Min Daily News visited the food centre and observed that there were litter on the floor and trays at the food centre looked very old and had obviously been used for many years. Half of these trays also have obvious stains or signs of mould.

“Having such dirty trays not only affects our appetite but there will also be a risk of getting bacterial infection, which is related to our food safety issues,” the 73-year-old diner added.

Another diner also said that he believes that the management should pay attention to this matter.

“We place our food on the trays. If the tray is dirty and smelly, it’s really disgusting. It’s not that I won’t come back, but I hope something can be done about it,” he continued.

In response to the complaints made by diners, some food stall owners also said that they are afraid that this issue would affect their businesses, “many customers have complained to us. I am also afraid that in the long run, we will lose customers and our businesses will be affected”.
