A 26-year-old part-time security officer for 1-Altitude fell into a construction manhole on the roof of One Raffles Place and died on 9 Jun. The man was found lying motionless inside the construction manhole and subsequently pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene. The police were notified at 1.26am on Sunday and had classified it as unnatural death. Investigations are still ongoing. The Ministry of Manpower (MOM) was also informed and has opened an investigation into the case. The ministry said that the man had fallen into a four-metre deep pit in an area cordoned off for exterior building cleaning works. A 40-year-old Singaporean Sao Wei Loon has been fined $72,000 for hiring Indonesians without valid work permit as stall assistants in three pasar malam last year. He employed 19 Indonesians holding only social visit pass to work as an assistant in Geylang Serai, Tampines and Toa Payoh between Jun 1 to Sep 16 last year. The illegal employment lasted between three days to more than three weeks. This is a “particularly egregious” case of illegal employment. said Mr Kandhavel Periyasamy, Director of Employment Inspectorate at the foreign manpower management division, Ministry of Manpower (MOM). Sao Wei Loon had illegally employed a large number of foreigners on social visit passes. He was convicted of 8 of the 19 charges after pleading guilty on 27 Jun 2017, Tuesday. An 85 year old lady fell to her death this morning at 10.20am at her home at Block 45 Circuit Road. She is believed to have fallen from her unit on the 9th floor while she was hanging her laundry. According to a Lianhe Zaobao reporter who was at the scene, the lady fell through a canvas awning on the first floor of the building. A woman who is believed to be the elderly lady’s neighbour was seen crying while being interviewed by the police. Neighbours shared that the elderly lady lives with her younger daughter who was at work when the incident happened. They also revealed that she was active in her household work even as she looked elderly and frail. The Police raided two massage establishments on Friday (April 28, 2017) afternoon and arrested three women. The third day of the raids on unlicensed massage parlours targeted those along MacPherson Road and Upper Paya Lebar Road. Six women aged between 29 and 50 were arrested for offences under the Women’s Charter, Chapter 353 on Wednesday (April 26, 2017) in Little India. On Friday, three female masseuses aged between 36 and 45, and a male customer were found at a massage parlour along Upper Paya Lebar Road. A masseuse was found in a state of undress at the time of the raid. The police said that all three women, aged 36 to 45 were arrested. Condoms were also found wrapped in aluminium foil and stashed in a pill bottle. Along MacPherson Road, two female masseuses were found in another parlour. Police also found an undressed male customer in one of the massage rooms
3 men and 14 women were arrested following an 8-hour joint enforcement operation that commenced at 10 pm on 15 April 2017. The operation was led by Tanglin Division and supported by officers from Criminal Investigations Department, Traffic Police, Central Narcotics Bureau Enforcement“E” Division and the 1st Singapore Civil Defence Force Division. A total of 9 public entertainment outlets were checked. 1 of them was found to have breached the Public Entertainment Licensing Conditions while 4 were found to have breached the Fire Safety Rules and Regulations. During the operation, the Police arrested 14 women for employment related offences. Out of the 14 women, 4 were also arrested for appearing nude in a public place. In addition, 2 men who are suspected to be a member of unlawful society were arrested. The Traffic Police also conducted an enforcement operation against drink driving in the vicinity of Clemenceau Ave. 28 motorists
