An embarrassing notice was put up at the Perak’s Tourish Information Centre over the weekend has gone viral.

The notice was meant to inform visitors of the centre’s closure as result of issues with its network and air conditioning.

But the notice had mistakes which showed poor grasp of the English language.

The notice in Ipoh happened just days after Malaysia’s airport operator apologised for a bunting that wished guests “Mary Christmas” and “Happy New Years”.

It read:

“Sorry for the complementary, we are closing for the temporary, Saturday 30/12/2017 and Sunday, 31/12/2017 because we had an unexpected problem within with our networking and air conditioner issue. “We are sure that we are been operated on 2nd Jan 2018. Tq”

The Ipoh City Council has said that it will take action against the employee of the tourism centre who had written the note.

Here in Singapore, we also had our own share of spelling embarrassment.

On 26 December, a Christmas greeting on the announcement display at an MRT station on the Downtown Line showed the phrase “Marry Christmas”. A photo of the mistake also went viral on social media.
