Are you living an area in Punggol or Sengkang where it’s far from the MRT? By far, we mean it requires 15 to 20 mins of walking to the nearest train station.
Grab recently expanded its GrabShuttle Plus service to Sengkang after launching the trial in Punggol.
For a flat fee of S$1.20 (per ride), you can now hop on a shuttle bus between any two bus stops in a particular area.
The good thing is that the app now allows you to travel between Punggol and Sengkang as well.
It can help to cut down overall travelling time as much as 10 per cent.
While public feeder bus service is still much cheaper, the waiting time and travelling time is slightly longer than GrabShuttle Plus.
With GrabShuttle Plus, it only takes less than five minutes to reach Rivervale Plaza from Sengkang MRT station. The vehicle will arrive approximately within 10 minutes of booking.
For public feeder bus, the travel time would take about 10 minutes and a waiting time of about 15 minutes.
Earlier in August, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) announced that it would start trials of “on-demand, dynamically routed” bus services in second half of 2018.
LTA wanted to start this service in areas with low demand during off-peak hours.
GrabShuttle Plus service is currently available between 6am and 10pm.
Grab also offers another service called “GrabShuttle” but it operates only on fixed routes and timings, unlike GrabShuttle Plus.
