Tow Tug catches fire at Changi Airport… No one hurt.

A tow tug (the vehicle that pulls/pushes a plane around the airport) caught fire while it was towing a Singapore Airlines plane to a departure gate at Changi Airport at about 4am this morning (29 November).

According to Singapore Airlines, there were no passengers on board the aircraft when the incident happened.

The plane was being moved from a remote parking bay to Terminal 3 for a flight. As it was crossing the bridge above Airport Boulevard Road, the tow tug suddenly caught fire. A towing crew member was in the cockpit at the time and was evacuated via an emergency slide.

Pictures and a video posted on Facebook show that the nose of the plane had a black patch as a result of the fire.

Singapore Airlines is investigating the incident together with the authorities and SIA Engineering Company.
