Jialat…China one step ahead of Singapore in going Cashless

Share

Singapore is going cashless, but we are one step behind China.

cashless

We have paywave and we are slowly starting to use mobile devices to make payment for the things we buy.

But in China, the more developed cities already have technology which can allow people to pay using their smartphone.

Limpeh’s friend was in Shanghai for a working trip. He went to eat at a mid-range restaurant and then he wanted to pay for the bill with cash, but the waiter asked if he could pay by Alipay or WeChat – smartphone payment. Of course, my friend is Singaporean where we hardly use Alipay or WeChat, so he said no.

Cashless

He took a taxi to the airport and when he reach the airport, the taxi uncle passed limpeh’s friend his handphone with a QR code. Limpeh’s friend blur blur don’t know what to do then took out cash for the taxi uncle. But actually the taxi uncle was giving the QR code for limpeh’s friend to scan and make payment.

Very throw-face leh….

Slowly, China don’t need notes or coins already. But in Singapore, some of us still think Cash is King.

Wake up lar brudder! If we don’t upgrade ourselves and use technology to make payment, then don’t blame gahmen or anyone if we slowly lag behind China in technology and our economy.

Of course, our elderly people will not be able to use smartphones to make payment, but we young people should be able to what. And going cashless also means we carry one less thing. And no cash, no need to be scared if people rob our money mar!
