The rabbit keychains charms that many of the shopping malls and pushcart stores are selling are made from real rabbit fur.
The SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals ) said that it did some tests on the products and the results show that the product is made of real animal fur.
The SPCA also said that the retailers said that the keychains are bought from China where the way animals are raised cruelly for their fur.
“In China, the industry is largely unregulated. The animals are often kept in very poor conditions and slaughtered in ways which cause much suffering,” – Jaipal Singh, SPCA executive director.
Killing the rabbits can be by cruel methods such as beating to death or electrocution. Sometimes they can also be skinned alive, according to ACRES (Animal Concerns Research and Education Society).
So don’t buy the rabbit keychains. Because when the buying stops, the suffering of the animals will, too.
