Last evening, the Singapore Police Force put up a Facebook post responding to a Facebook post by, Yeoh Lam Keong, Ex-GIC (Goverment Investment Corporation) Chief Economist on 5 June 2017.
Here’s his post:

And here’s the paragraph which drew a rebuttal from our men in blue:
“Unfortunately we’ve made the same penny wise pound foolish policy decisions that have resulted in inadequate community policing in Singapore too. Alienation from the police was a big reason for the cause and poor handling of the riots in little India. Alcohol is just a convenient scapegoat.”
The SPF then put out a statement on their Facebook page, saying that Yeoh’s sweeping statement was “inaccurate”, “shows a clear lack of understanding of what happened during the Little India riot” and “an ignorance of our community policing efforts”.

Oh, and our men in blue also quite #thuglife
They ended the post by suggesting Yeoh to “come forward and volunteer in community policing”.
“It will be helpful if people like Mr Yeoh actually come forward and volunteer in community policing. He will then get a better understanding of what the Police does.”
