A couple riding a motorcycle reportedly collided with a car on their way to work.

Both of them were thrown off their vehicle. The accident caused the woman to suffer from a fracture in her arm. According to Zaobao, she also required more than 60 stitches on her hands and face. The man, on the other hand, also suffered extensive abrasions and required more than 10 stitches all over his body.

The incident happened on 21 December last year around 8am along the Ayer Rajah Expressway (AYE).

The couple involved in the accident were Loo (42 years old) and Ng (47 years old).

In an interview, Loo told the newspaper that he had come all the way from Malaysia to Singapore that morning. He then picked up his girlfriend who lived in Jurong West and then drove her to work in the Tanjong Pagar area on his motorcycle.

Loo recounted that they were riding along the AYE in the second lane when a white car on his right suddenly switched lanes and hit his vehicle before he could react.

“When the motorcycle overturned, we were both thrown onto the road. My girlfriend slid into the first lane, and I was dragged for a distance,” he said.

He revealed that the speed of the vehicle was very fast, but fortunately, there was no other vehicle passing behind him, otherwise, the consequences would be disastrous. Another motorcyclist who happened to pass by stopped to help them by calling the police and ambulance.

He said that his girlfriend’s face landed on the ground during the car accident, causing multiple bruises on her face. She also suffered a fracture on her right hand, and injuries to both knees. She was hospitalized for more than a month and was not discharged from the hospital until last Saturday (27 January).

“A metal rod had to be inserted into my girlfriend’s right hand. It will be decided after a follow-up visit on 6 February whether she needs surgery or not. I, too, suffered multiple bruises and fractured part of the cartilage in my right elbow and was hospitalized for 10 days,” he added.

He said that a few days after he was discharged from the hospital, he went to the police station to report the car accident again on 6 January. When questioned, the police confirmed that they had received the report and that the investigation was ongoing.
