For those who regularly goes into Johor Baru to pump petrol, you might be following this piece of news closely.

44-year-old man, identified as Tan Ah Choy, was murdered at a Johor Baru petrol station along Jalan Sri Pelangi on Sunday night.

He was stabbed and ran over with a BMW car at the Shell station after parking his Volkswagen Polo at the petrol station to check his tyres.

The attackers tried to drag him into the white BMW but Tan resisted and got stabbed in the chest.

They allegedly threw firecrackers at him before driving off but then circled the station to run him over.

They even reversed the car to run him over for the second time before escaping the scene.

The four attackers involved in this case are believed to be his drug suppliers.

According to The Malay Mail, the dispute happened when the victim could not pay for the supplies he had gotten from the syndicate members over a few months.

Tan allegedly started to avoid his suppliers.

Another Malaysian paper, The Star, claimed that the victim might have been the target of hitmen. It cited Chinese media reports of RM32,888 (S$10,861) on Tan and RM23,888 for any information on him.

The white BMW 5-series belonged to a 55-year-old man from Ipoh who reported to police that his car was repossessed a few months ago after he failed to pay his installment payment.

The Malaysian police have identified the four suspects and are stepping up efforts to track them down.

They will also interview Tan’s Vietnamese girlfriend who was with Tan when the murder took place.
