21-year-old boy seeking donation from crowdfunding to help him pay for damaged rental vehicle excess

A 21-year-old boy who was driving a rented Mitsubishi Lancer collided on to a van outside Bishan bus interchange on Tuesday, July 11, 2017, is crowdfunding for donation to help him pay off his excess with the rental company.

Crowdfunding

It seems like when he first started the crowdfunding, he was asking for $10,000 to pay for his repairs, some netizens pointed it out in the comment that it is impossible for the rental company to be asking for $10,000 since most of them are covered by insurance.

However, when Sure Boh Singapore visited his crowdfunding post, we notice he is asking for $3000 now. So not sure if he had changed it. As of the time of reporting, he has received $200 of out $3000 from 12 backers.

Here is his account:

Hi guys, I’m Chew Cheng Feng from Singapore, 21 years old. Just graduated from a local diploma and I’m currently waiting to be enlisted to compulsory national service this month on the 25th.

I’m sharing with you guys why I need this fund and the reasons of this fund.

I’ve been working since I was 15, the reasons are because I want to have my own income and don’t want to burden my family as my Father have a heart condition,

I don’t want him to overwork and get sick easily, so I begin to work when I was young, to be able to afford and contribute to the family, to get my own necessities, pay tuition fee and pay for my own medical bill as I have eczema and the bill can easily go up to 600 per month.

And to have a vehicle that can bring them out to eat and enjoy. I rented this car for both personal use and courier service job to cover the rental and petrol and also earn a bit of income before I go to the army, to spend time with family.

However on the 11th July 2017, at approximately 5pm, I was driving a rented Mitsubishi Lancer for courier services, when I collided with a vehicle. While I managed to escape major injuries, the car was in a bad shape.

No workshop wanted to fix the car, thus the rental company wanted me to pay up a hefty fine of 10k SGD as stated in the contract.

As I am currently jobless as i am waiting to enlist, I have no financial means to pay the company back. The traffic police say it was our fault from going from minor to major road. I feel indignant and lost as I am unable to prove otherwise as my rented car is relatively old and has no camera.

I hope you all understand my plight and will be able to spare me some cash to pay the rental company back. I am extremely desperate and lost as 10k is not a small sum of money and my friends do not have enough for me to lend from. Thank you for your time.

P.S we are not promoting his crowdfunding, therefore, no link will be given.

Does anyone want to donate to my teh tarik fund? Let me know in the comment.
