The logins and passwords of about 50,000 Singapore government email accounts have been found in “illegal data banks” in January said a spokesman from the Smart Nation and Digital Government Group on 21 Mar.

He also noted that only 119 of the addresses were still being used, while the rest of the email accounts were outdated or “bogus addresses.”

According to the Russian cybersecurity firm Group-IB, compromised credentials encompass accounts from the Ministry of Education (MOE), Ministry of Health (MOH), Singapore Police Force, as well as the National University of Singapore (NUS).

As an immediate precaution measure, officers with affected credentials have been asked to change their passwords, the spokesman added. No other information was leaked except for their email addresses and passwords.

The spokesman clarified that the credentials were not leaked from the government systems, but the use of these address for personal use. Officers have also been reminded to not use government email addresses for non-work-related purposes, as part or basic cyber hygiene.

So cek ark one ah, use work email for such access. Even if use personal email account, don’t access dubious sites ma, later data leak then blame again.
