With the help of the National Parks Board (NParks), Singapore national water agency PUB caught a crocodile at Lower Seletar Reservoir on 23 Feb.

The crocodile was first spotted by a PUB contractor on 14 Feb, putting a halt in all water and fishing activities there. Officers from PUB and NParks had been conducting daily patrols and night surveillance since. Authorities had also advised the public to not go near the edge of the water.

The flotation cage traps were designed to trap the crocodile humanely, Second Minister for National Development Desmond Lee said. The traps were also monitored regularly to ensure that no other animals are caught in the midst.

Measuring about 1.7m long, the estuarine crocodile has been translocated into the wild.

As an added safety measure, both agencies will continue to patrol the area to ensure there are no further crocodile sightings.

Meanwhile, Lower Seletar Reservoir will remain closed, with all activities suspended till further notice.

If you all see a crocodile out somewhere, call PUB immediately. Don’t anyhow take selfie or provoke it ah.
