A Singaporean male penned his frustrations about financial consultants bugging him at roadshows and his post has been shared 2,000 times on his own Facebook account over the past few days.
Here’s his full post:
“Just some feedback to Financial Consultants/ Sales people while doing roadshows.
1) If i am walking briskly to the MRT gantry, chances are i am rushing for the train.
Please do not intercept me like a professional basketball player trying to block a shot.
You may argue that people are just ‘pretending’ to walk briskly so as to avoid you. So what if they are? Why force yourself onto them if they don’t want to talk to you. No means no k….
2) Your agency/company banner is hanging right there behind you. Please do not insult my intelligence by starting the convo with ‘I am not trying to sell you anything,’
I also know you are trying to be clever by adding a ‘today’ at the end of the sentence which means you will call me and try to sell me something next time. If not you stop me for what… love at first sight ah.3) When i reply ‘No i am good, Thank you’ just take it and go. Passing me a brochure for me to read in my free time is fine too. You’ll never know if i like what i read. Please dont ask me questions like ‘Can you tell me why not?’. When girls reject me i also dont ask them ‘Can you tell me why not?’ Right?
4) Opening your pitch with ‘Hi! Can i share with you some of our policies?’ Is definately better than ‘hihimynameisjanedoeiamnottryingtosellyouanythingtodaycanijusthavefiveminutesofyoutimetodoaquicksurveypleasepleaseipromiseyouitwillbequick’
Also please do not run in front of me and dangle your ‘Free Gift’ in front of my eyes expecting my field of vision to follow the object that you are dangling in your hand. I AM NOT YOUR CAT.”
