If you think you won’t be able to see baby turtles hatching on our beaches and crawling back to the sea in Singapore, then you are wrong.

Yes, most of the time you will see such cases in Malaysia, but Singapore also has turtles laying eggs on our beaches and baby turtles running back to the sea after they hatch.

On Wednesday 16 August 2017, it happened at East Coast Park.

According to NParks, they were notified by several park visitors. The NParks staff then worked together with the park visitors to transport the baby turtles to a more suitable location to release their into the sea.

The bright lights on the street were distracting the baby turtles which were trying to find their way back to the sea.

In all, 32 baby turtles were helped back into the sea.

NParks has reminded the public to contact them if turtles are seen on our beaches, and to keep their distance and speak softly.

If you see a turtle on a beach in Singapore, find out what you can do here.
