With the current milk formula prices heavily debated and causing each and every Singaporean parent a massive migraine (how exactly do you provide your children nutrition without burning a hole in your wallet?), it was about time for us to consider cheaper and financially friendly options.
Make the smarter switch
According to a data study conducted by CupoNation, parents who purchase non-premium milk formula can save up to $1900 on an annual basis. That’s like your monthly apartment rent!
But then again how bad is it when you switch to non-premium formulas? Most of the times nutrients in the speciality and premium milk formulas are over advertised and hardly play any contributing factor even if foregone.
Stick to Breastfeeding
Of course, nothing beats breastfeeding. According to the same study, the Stage 1 speciality formula is 213% more expensive than the non-premium formula in Singapore. If you are still worried about the contents of Stage 1 non-premium formula and can’t afford to stretch the dollar, then breastfeeding would obviously be the best option.
Cross over lah!
Face it, converting our hard earned SGD to MYR earns us all brownie points. When comparing prices of milk formulas in Singapore to Malaysia, it’s 71% cheaper to buy in Bolehland. Instead of spending an extravagant amount on infant formula in Singapore marts, simply drive over to Johor to bring back a good monthly stock.
However, one must consider the costs of transportation and fuel if you were to travel every month or make it every weekend to Johor to stock up on baby milk. To be honest, the cost doesn’t really justify the savings from buying in Malaysia.
So are Singaporeans hopeless in cutting milk formula costs? Or will we have a saviour soon?
