Fire breaks out at Changi Airport Terminal 2

Changi Airport Fire: A fire broke out at Changi Airport Terminal 2 on Tuesday (May 16) evening.

The fire alarm was activated at Changi Airport Terminal 2 at about 5.40pm due to smoke coming through the air vents. Evacuation of the terminal was initiated and the Changi Airport Emergency Service team is onsite. 

The police said in a Facebook post that they were alerted to a fire at the departure hall of Changi Airport Terminal 2 at 5.43pm.

Police and Singapore Civil Defence Force officers are managing the incident, said the police.

The cause of the fire has been identified. The situation is under control. Flight operations at T2 are affected. We seek the understanding of the public.

A small fire occurred at the departure hall of Changi Airport Terminal 2. The fire has been extinguished by SCDF using a hosereel jet.

Changi Airport T2 remains closed for safety reasons. All departing and arriving flights to the terminal will be moved to T3 until further notice, airport officials say.

“Three people were also taken to hospital for smoke inhalation.” said SCDF.

Due to the incident, bus services 24, 27 and 53 will skip the bus stop at Terminal 2, said transport operator SBS Transit.
