A 27-year-old was arrested for leaving 2 bags unattended at Aljunied MRT today

Another man was arrested for causing public alarm after two bags was left unattended at Aljunied MRT station on Friday (Jun 16, 2017).

The police were alerted to the unattended bag at Aljunied MRT station shortly after 10 am.

With the information provided by SMRT staff, officers from the Bedok Division and Public Transport Security Command tracked and arrested a 27-year-old man near the station.

Preliminary investigations showed that the man had intentionally left his bags at the station and gone to a nearby coffee shop.

The bags were found containing only personal clothing and food items.

Police investigations are ongoing.

Any person who commits any of the following offences shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding $1,000 under Public Order and Nuisance Act.

This is the fourth case involving unattended bags and two Bangladeshi workers were arrested for leaving bags unattended at Aljunied MRT station last month.
