Facebook User Who Posted About Su Haijin Dinners Says He Has Received Legal Letters from Ong Ye Kung, Chee Hong Tat, and Ng Chee Meng

A man who made viral Facebook posts about Singapore ministers dining with Su Haijin — a key figure in the $3 billion money laundering case — has confirmed that he has received lawyer letters from Minister for Health Ong Ye Kung, Minister for Transport Chee Hong Tat, and NTUC Secretary-General Ng Chee Meng.

What led to the legal letters?

The controversy started during the GE2025 campaign period, when Facebook user Rich Sng, whose real name is believed to be Sng Chia Huat, posted photos of ministers having dinner with Su Haijin. The posts implied that the ministers were aware of Su’s criminal activities and had continued to associate with him.

In particular, Sng accused Ong, Chee, and Ng of:

  • Knowing about Su’s illegal acts but still condoning his behaviour,

  • Pretending not to know him,

  • Possibly receiving bribes,

  • And being part of a system that protects such individuals.

Ong and Chee responded in a joint statement, calling these allegations “baseless and untrue”, and said they had no interaction with Su before or after the dinner. They, along with Ng Chee Meng, issued letters of demand to Sng, asking for a retraction, public apology, and compensation (to be donated to charity).

A deadline of May 16 was given before further legal action would be taken.

Sng says he has received the letters

In a new Facebook post published on May 15, Sng confirmed he had received the legal letters from all three of them.

He has since edited three of his original posts, adding a note that they have been removed “at the request of the respective parties”.

In the edited posts, he wrote:

“I will be making a formal response only after receiving the official letters of demand. Until then, I will refrain from further comments as advised.”

No prior links with Su

The dinners in question reportedly took place between 2020 and 2022 and were hosted by businessman Sam Goi, also known as the “Popiah King”. The two Cabinet Ministers and the NTUC Secretary-General were photographed at the same table as Su Haijin, but they have maintained that they had no relationship with him.

Su Haijin was arrested in August 2023 as part of Singapore’s largest money laundering case. He was later sentenced to 14 months’ jail and deported to Cambodia in 2024.

As of now, Rich Sng has not stated whether he will comply with the legal demands.
