Last week, around 30 baby turtles hatched on East Coast Park Beach and were helped to return to the sea by NParks and some members of the public. This week, members of the public caught a rare sighting of a turtle laying eggs.
NParks shared pictures and a video of the mother turtle laying her eggs.

But some netizens complained to NParks that they shouldn’t have shared the photos and video for fear that the public will flock to the beach to find the eggs and dig it up for consumption (turtle eggs can be eaten and some consider it a delicacy.)
Guess there will always be people on both sides of the fence la… support or don’t support, like or don’t like…
But maybe should also give credit to NParks for sharing such a rare sighting of a turtle laying eggs on our shores also lor. Their intent was really to educate and share information mar. And they also included a link that has information on what to do when such a sighting occurs.
So hor, don’t purposely go there just to steal turtle eggs lar ok! Don’t be a chao turtle…
