A Thai woman was found dead in her apartment in Bangkok, and the Thai police believe her Singaporean boyfriend might be the one who killed her and then ran away. Now, the Thai police are hunting him down.
According to Zaobao, the victim’s sister, the woman had told her family before, “If you don’t hear from me for two days, that means something bad happened to me.” And unfortunately, it really happened.
What Happened?
On Thursday (27 March), reports said a 30-year-old Thai woman named Prao-Pilas was found dead in a high-end apartment in Sukhumvit, Bangkok.
The Singaporean man suspected of killing her is Daniel Benjamin Goh Wei-En, her boyfriend of three years. People say their relationship was very rocky, with lots of quarrels and even physical fights. Now, the Thai police have issued a warrant to catch Daniel.
How She Was Found
According to Thai media, the police from Thong Lor station received a report around 6:30 PM on 26 March. When officers arrived at the apartment on the 22nd floor, the door wasn’t even locked.
They found the woman’s body lying naked face-up in the bathroom, wrapped with a white bedsheet and a blue blanket. Her head was covered with a white cloth, and there were obvious injuries and bloodstains.
From investigations, it looks like the woman had been dead for at least 48 hours before they found her.
Family’s Account
The Thai media managed to speak to her mother and sister. The victim was the second child in her family. Her mother said her daughter tried calling her at 10:29 AM on 24 March, but she missed the call. When she called her back six minutes later, no one answered.
“After that, my daughter never called back. I also couldn’t reach her boyfriend because his phone was off,” the mother said.
When she couldn’t contact the couple, the mother asked her daughter’s friends to go check on her. That’s when they found out the shocking news. The victim’s sister also said her sister had told their mother before that her boyfriend was violent. They even broke up before but later got back together.
“My sister told us before, if she goes missing for two days, it means something bad has happened. Who knows it really came true.”
The sister added that even though her sister wasn’t working, she was the one supporting the family financially because Daniel was the one giving her money.
The victim’s mother also said she had a bad feeling because she fell down the stairs before the incident. “We will hold the cremation ceremony for my daughter at a temple in Bangkok before bringing her ashes back to our hometown.”
Last Moments Caught on Camera
Just before her death, CCTV footage caught the victim’s last moments. On her birthday (23 March), she was seen returning to her apartment with her boyfriend Daniel, and they even kissed goodbye in the elevator.
She even posted a sweet photo of her and Daniel on social media on the same day. The photo showed them leaning close together at a table with a big birthday cake and an expensive watch on it.
According to CCTV footage, Daniel sent her back to her apartment at 9:17 PM. After that, he left but came back at 12:12 AM. Then, CCTV cameras caught him going up and down the lift several times to collect items.
Finally, on 25 March at around 3 PM, he was seen leaving the apartment with luggage. The woman’s body was only found the next evening (26 March).
Now the Thai police are on the hunt for Daniel. It is a truly tragic case, and hopefully, justice will be served.
