Local actress Chantalle Ng shared that she was recently admitted to Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) after falling ill with a viral infection, describing the past week as one of the toughest she has faced.
In a heartfelt Facebook post, the actress who played a villain in Emerald Hill said the experience reminded her just how fragile life can be. While the illness was serious, what stayed with her most was the deep gratitude she felt for healthcare workers who took care of her throughout her stay.
She recalled crying in the ambulance because she was afraid, but felt reassured by the calmness of the paramedics. At the Accident and Emergency (A&E) department, she said the doctors and nurses were patient, gentle and understanding, especially when she requested extra care as a claustrophobic patient.
Chantalle also thanked the staff at Ward 8F who supported her when her fever spiked. She gave special mention to Dr Ting, who explained every step clearly and patiently, even repeating the process when necessary. The actress shared that the doctor also advised her on whether her scheduled health check in Bangkok was worth proceeding with.
Reflecting on the experience, she said she felt “an immense surge of love” and was moved by the kindness of everyone at TTSH. “I wasn’t close to dying, but I felt that love in Tan Tock Seng, and it brings me to tears knowing how much kindness is around us,” she wrote.
She also expressed gratitude to her bosses and colleagues at Mediacorp, who stepped in to manage work matters during her absence. Instead of making her feel guilty for not being around, they reminded her that her health should come first.
Chantalle assured fans that she is now recovering well and will be back soon.

This week has been one of the toughest. I was admitted for a viral infection, and it reminded me just how fragile life can be.But more than anything, I came home with deep gratitude for the people in healthcare. To the first responders in the ambulance, I ugly cried when you arrived because I knew I was going to be safe. I didn’t even get the chance to properly thank you before you disappeared for your next call. So thank you!To the doctors and nurses in Tan Tock Seng’s A&E, you were so patient, kind, and a shining light (and yes, shining lights into my eyes too). Thank you for caring for me with such gentleness and understanding, especially as a claustrophobic patient when I insisted on walking around and removing my needles. To the staff at NCID Ward 8F, you changed how I viewed a hospital stay. I initially resisted being admitted, but I am so glad I was there when my fever spiked. Special thanks to Dr Ting, for explaining everything so clearly, waiting for my mum to arrive and repeating it all again for her, and even helping me decide if my scheduled full health check up in Bangkok was worth going for.I once read that people close to death sometimes feel an immense surge of love. I wasn’t close to dying, but I felt that love in Tan Tock Seng, and it brings me to tears knowing how much kindness is around us.And to my bosses and colleagues at Mediacorp, thank you for being my pillars. You stepped in so quickly to manage the crisis of me being away, and you did it with so much care You never made me feel guilty for not being at work, instead you reminded me that my health comes first. I feel so supported and truly so so loved loved.I’m recovering well and I’ll be back soon
