Men Capture Large Python at Teck Whye Coffee Shop Using Broom and Chair

Viral Video Shows Python Captured at Coffeeshop
A video of a large python being caught at a coffee shop in Singapore has gone viral on both TikTok and Facebook.
The incident was filmed at the coffee shop at Block 145 Teck Whye and was uploaded to social media on August 13. In the video, the snake was caught moving along the very edge of the coffee shop roof.
A man uses a broom to give it a little nudge, which makes the snake fall to the floor below. As the python started to slither into the coffee shop, a group of people chased it down to try and catch it.

Capturing the python

Two men were trying to catch the python, with one of them using a plastic chair and the other with a broom. At a key moment, the man with the chair was able to cover the snake’s head with a bag.
They quickly stepped in to help carry the snake right out of the coffee shop. They eventually put the python into a much bigger bag for a more secure hold.

Mixed reactions online

Many people praised the man with the chair, calling him an “uncle” and saying they were impressed with his “decisive behaviour.”

NParks’ Official Advice

Even though the men were brave, the official advice from NParks is a little different.
The NParks snake advisory suggests that if you see a snake, you should “stay calm and back away from snakes.” The advisory also says that you should not try to approach or handle snakes yourself if you see them in a public area.
It turns out this isn’t the first time a python has caused a stir in this area. A two-meter-long python was recorded attacking cars near Block 136 Teck Whye Lane back on April 27, 2024.
