RDU Chief Reveals Party’s Election Strategy for Holland-Bukit Timah GRC

In the lead-up to the General Election in 2025, Red Dot United (RDU) has revealed its intentions to contest in Holland-Bukit Timah Group Representation Constituency (GRC) while also being open to making way for the Singapore Democratic Party (SDP) if it serves the best interests of the people.

Party chief Ravi Philemon shared insights into RDU’s plans during a walkabout at Senja Hawker Centre, mentioning that the party values opposition unity and is committed to putting the people’s interests first.

Philemon acknowledged the SDP’s past efforts in Holland-Bukit Timah GRC and emphasized RDU’s willingness to collaborate behind closed doors to ensure the opposition presents a united front for the upcoming election.

He stated, “We know that SDP … they have spoken to the media saying that they are trying to see if they can put together a team for Holland-Bukit Timah GRC,” highlighting the importance of respectful negotiations among opposition parties.

With the People’s Action Party having secured victory in the 2020 General Election in the constituency, Philemon noted RDU’s strategic decisions regarding its participation in various constituencies.

The party had previously stated its intention to contest in six different constituencies, and if it fields a team in Holland-Bukit Timah GRC, it will refrain from presenting candidates in Tanjong Pagar GRC and Radin Mas SMC to optimize opposition representation.

To address residents’ concerns in the area, RDU outlined its town council management plan, underscoring its commitment to addressing municipal issues effectively if its candidates are elected into parliament. Philemon introduced key members who will lead RDU’s campaign in Holland-Bukit Timah GRC, showcasing a diverse team that includes individuals with political and professional backgrounds.

As RDU prioritizes the collective goal of representing the people effectively, Philemon highlighted the importance of unity and teamwork within the party. He emphasized that potential candidates are prepared to stand down to support the greater opposition cause, illustrating a collaborative and dedicated approach to the electoral process.
