A food delivery rider has been sentenced to nine months’ jail for viciously assaulting another female food delivery rider.
Reportedly, the female food delivery rider had shouted “Oei” at him because she was almost hit by the delivery rider.

Unhappy that he got shouted at, the food delivery rider known as Lani (literal translation) followed the female delivery rider and punched her seven times. He also threatened another passerby.
According to Zaobao, the 45-year-old man pleaded guilty to two charges of reckless conduct causing injury to others and intentionally causing serious injury to others on 14 February, with two other charges to be taken into consideration.
What Happened
According to the details of the case, the man and the 49-year-old victim Shen Muzhi (literal translation) were both working as food delivery riders. On 22 June 2022 at around 6.45pm, Shen delivering food on her electric bicycle near 35 Chai Chee Avenue when Lani suddenly rode towards her from her right at a very fast speed. Instinctively, she shouted “Oei! ” and changed direction to avoid collision.
Later, as she was about to leave after completing her food delivery, she heard someone yell “Oei” at her and saw the man waiting for her.
She tried to leave, but she was pursued by the man who demanded an explanation for her shouting.
The two later stopped at an intersection to talk. But as soon as Shen got off her electric bicycle, Lani struck her with a punch in the face, following it up with two more punches, causing her to lose consciousness and fall onto a nearby vehicle.
Lani then tried to leave but was stopped by Shen who held onto his bag. Shen hit him three times on his back.
Enraged, the man got off from his vehicle again and punched Shen in her face four more times, leaving her dizzy and disoriented on the ground.
Lani then fled the scene while Shen reported the incident to the Police.
Medical reports indicated that Shen suffered from severe injuries, including extensive bruising spanning about 10 centimetres from her eyes to her chin, a fractured nasal septum, and bleeding from the nose. Lani also underwent a medical examination but did not exhibit any apparent injuries.
