In a TikTok video posted on 18 July, Jessica Lee revealed that Subway has fully reimbursed her the money she paid for the fine in the form of a gift card!

In the box of merchandise which Subway sent her, Subway gave her a gift card that could be used to buy Subway products.

They also wrote her a card which says:

“To say thank you for eating fresh, we’ve uploaded a Sub card with A$2,664 just for you. We hope this covers all your chicken and lettuce needs.

Love, from your Subway fans.”

On top of the gift card and the card, the box of merchandise she received also included a hat, pens, shoelaces, scrunchie, stickers, bottle opener, socks, cardholder, cookie key chain, playing cards, and a tumbler.

In response to the surprise, Jessica Lee said, “Subway, you have outdone yourself and this fine is worth every single penny!”

What happened

The 19-year-old had previously shared in a 1-minute-and-20-second long TikTok video that she had bought a foot-long Subway sandwich when she was transferring at Singapore airport as she was hungry from her 11-hour flight.

She ate half of it before her next connecting flight and dabao the remainder for her flight back to Australia.

However, she did not finish her sandwich on the flight. And when she entered Australia, she was caught by the authorities for not declaring the two ingredients – chicken and lettuce – in the sandwich, which landed her with a hefty fine of AUD 2,664 (about SGD 2,532).

She also shared that she tried explaining that she was under the impression that the form was for carry-ons and luggage, however, she was still issued the fine.

Now with this reimbursement, she can eat Subway for a year, eat until she puke sia.
