NTUC FairPrice launching a new discount scheme to help lower-income families
That means the discounts will continue to be available from 1 January to 31 December 2022.
Tia gong if you add up all these wu-eh-bo-eh discount schemes, it is estimated to cost NTUC FairPrice around $11 million. This is on top of the $54 million in discounts given to PG, MG, seniors, and Chas blue cardholders since the year 2015 leh!
Seah Kian Peng, group chief executive of FairPrice Group, said seniors and those who are less fortunate are affected by uncertainties caused by the prolonged pandemic. He also said: “The extension of our various discount schemes seeks to complement our community efforts to provide financial relief to those affected and, at the same time, build a more resilient society.”
Quite a nice gesture lah hor.
Current discount schemes for seniors and low-income families
Currently, FairPrice offers 4 different kinds of discount initiatives to help seniors and low-income families stretch their dollars further when shopping at FairPrice.
These include:
To enjoy these discount schemes, eligible customers only need to flash their MG, PG, or CHAS Blue card, provided by the government, at cashier counters upon checking out their purchases.
Similarly, at self-check-out counters, customers need to select the MG, PG, or CHAS Blue discount option. These discounts are valid for purchases of up to $200 per transaction per day.
Pioneer Generation Proxy initiative
To encourage encouraging seniors to stay safe by staying home, FairPrice is also extending its Pioneer Generation (PG) Proxy initiative until 30 June 2022.
This proxy initiative allows family members of seniors to enjoy special savings when they help the PG members to run their grocery errands. Also very easy one, family members of PGs just need to present the PG card of their kin at all FairPrice outlets when they shop on Mondays and Wednesdays.
So hor, now no more excuse to siam when your ah gong ah ma lao peh lao bu ask you to help them run errands liao! But the good news is you get to enjoy these discounts when you pretend to help them to buy things lah.
