As if news of the Lee family saga and teenage boy who threw an Ofo bike down from high-rise HDB block isn’t troubling enough, this piece of news will break your heart.

An otter was found dead in a cage along the Marina Promenade in the Kallang Basin on Wednesday (14 June).

A community group, OtterWatch, suspects that the otter is part of the famous Bishan family as they were missing one of its members for two days.

The dead otter was handed over to Wildlife Reserves Singapore for a post-mortem.

A man was caught setting up traps in the reservoir along the Marina Promenade by a PUB reservoir staff.

PUB said it will take enforcement action against him under the Public Utilities (Reservoirs, Catchment Areas and Waterway) Regulations 2006.

Those who are caught trapping any animal or injuring fauna in any reservoir can be fined up to $3,000.

The OtterWatch group is also watching this news closely.
