New and old staff at Ang Mo Kio durian stall get into fight; one taken to hospital

A late-night fight between a “new staff member” and an “old employee” at a durian stall in Ang Mo Kio ended with two men arrested and one person taken to the hospital.

The incident happened on Saturday (15 November) at about 10:15 pm, at a durian stall under Block 530 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 10.

A reader, Mr Lin, told Shin Min Daily News that he saw several police cars and officers at the scene and suspected a fight had happened.

“I passed by and saw many police officers. Later, I heard that the durian stall staff were fighting.”

Photos he shared showed several police officers surrounding a man in a white shirt who was seated on a chair, while medical personnel checked his injuries.

Police took away a clothes rack as evidence.

When the reporters arrived at the scene, the workers involved were no longer there. However, two police officers were still around to investigate and were later seen leaving with a clothes rack believed to be taken as evidence.

Next to the stall is a coffee shop where patrons were drinking and chatting. One diner, who declined to be named, said the fight likely started from a disagreement between the two employees.

He said,

“I heard the two of them were unhappy with each other at first, then they started fighting. When the police arrived, they questioned them, and both were taken into the police car.”

It is understood that a third employee also got involved, believed to be helping one of the men.

Police said two men aged 26 and 31 were arrested for affray. Another man, aged 52, was taken to the hospital conscious. Investigations are ongoing.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force said one person was taken to Sengkang General Hospital, while two others had minor injuries but refused to be taken to the hospital.
