69-year-old man found dead inside lorry at Pioneer Mall car park

A 69-year-old man was found dead inside a lorry parked at the multi-storey car park of Pioneer Mall in Jurong West on Monday (Nov 3) morning. Police were at the scene for more than three hours to investigate.

The incident happened around 11:50 am. When Shin Min Daily News arrived, several police cars were seen on the third floor of the car park. A blue tent had been set up in front of a silver car and a white lorry.

Due to heavy traffic in the area, police officers were seen directing vehicles and keeping the public away from the tented area.

Ms Lim, 24, an accountant, said she was there for lunch with a colleague when she saw the police at the scene.

“I heard someone had passed away, but I’m not sure what happened. We often come here for lunch, so it’s quite scary to see something like this,” she said.

Nearby shop owners said they were unaware of the incident.

“We were busy serving customers and didn’t even realise the police were here. There’s a clinic and a big supermarket nearby, so a lot of people come here,” said one of them.

It is understood that the man was found unconscious in the lorry. When the authorities arrived, they moved his body out of the vehicle. The area was then cordoned off to prevent people from getting close.

The lorry had markings of a company that provides scaffolding services. A staff member from the company later confirmed that the deceased was one of their employees and had collapsed on his way to work.

In response to media queries, the police confirmed receiving a report about the incident. A spokesperson said that a 69-year-old man was found motionless in a lorry and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF).

Preliminary investigations ruled out foul play, and police are still looking into the case.
