Elderly man suddenly collapses and bleeds from nose and mouth at Admiralty Place, saved by quick-thinking passers-by

An elderly man at Admiralty Place was saved from the brink of death after members of the public rushed to his aid when he suddenly collapsed and started bleeding from his nose and mouth.

According to Shin Min Daily News, the incident happened on Monday (October 27) around 1:30pm, outside an optical shop on the first floor of Admiralty Place.

Photos circulating on social media showed a large crowd gathered at the scene while paramedics were performing emergency procedures on the elderly man.

When reporters visited the area later that night, a female shop assistant shared that the man, who appeared to be in his 80s or 90s and looked frail, suddenly began bleeding from his nose and mouth before collapsing. The sudden scene caused panic among nearby shoppers.

“People immediately rushed forward to help. A woman in a blue shirt performed CPR on him for more than 10 minutes. Someone also ran to get the automated external defibrillator (AED) to shock his heart, while others called for an ambulance,” she said.

She added that the situation became crowded and chaotic, but some people reminded others to step back so that the man could get fresh air. Thankfully, after everyone’s combined efforts, the elderly man slowly regained consciousness.

A male employee from a nearby shop said the rescue took about half an hour in total. When the paramedics arrived, they lifted the man onto a stretcher and took him to the hospital.

In response to media queries, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) confirmed that they received a call for assistance and conveyed one person to Woodlands Health Campus.
