LTA to Raise ERP Charges by S$1 at Five Gantries from 1 September

LTA Implements S$1 ERP Hike at Key Expressway Gantries Starting September 1
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has announced an increase in Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) rates at five specific locations, effective September 1. This adjustment, raising rates by S$1, is a targeted measure to manage traffic congestion and maintain optimal vehicle speeds on key expressways.
The LTA’s decision follows a review of traffic conditions in July, which revealed that speeds on certain stretches of the expressways had fallen below the desired range of 45kmh to 65kmh. The purpose of these rate adjustments is to help alleviate bottlenecks and improve traffic flow during peak hours.

ERP Locations and Timing

The new ERP rates will apply to the following locations and time periods:
  • AYE (after Jurong Town Hall towards the city): The rate will be S$4 from 7:30 a.m. to 8:00 a.m.
  • AYE (after North Buona Vista towards Tuas): The rate will be S$3 from 5:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., and S$2 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
  • Southbound CTE (before Braddell Road): The rate will be S$3 from 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.
  • Northbound CTE (after PIE): The rate will be S$4 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., and S$3 from 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
  • PIE (between Kallang Bahru and the slip road into Bendemeer): The rate will be S$3 from 8:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.
This is the first ERP rate increase in nearly a year, with the last adjustment occurring in September 2024 at three other locations. The LTA has stated it will continue to monitor traffic patterns and may implement further changes if necessary. In particular, the LTA noted that it is keeping a close eye on the Northbound CTE and Southbound KPE, where speeds have been “persistently lower than optimal.”
The authority also highlighted that, despite these new increases, the number of ERP gantries and operational time slots remains lower than pre-COVID-19 levels. In the long term, Singapore’s road management system will be further enhanced by the new ERP 2.0 system, which is scheduled for a full rollout in 2025.
