Three food delivery riders clash at Tampines, end up shouting and filming each other

A female food delivery rider said she shouted loudly to remind a woman pedestrian to be careful, but this upset two fellow delivery riders, which escalated into a heated argument.

The woman later made a police report.

The rider, Ms Hu (35), told reporters from Shin Min Daily News that the incident happened on August 7 at about 9.15pm, along a park connector near Tampines MRT station. She was using a personal mobility aid (PMA) to make her delivery, and on the way back to Tampines One mall, she shouted loudly because she was worried a child might get knocked over.

“At that time, two riders were going quite fast on their personal mobility devices. I thought the child was about to run across. I am a mother myself, so I was concerned something might happen, so I shouted a few times,” she explained.

Later, while waiting at the traffic light, the two riders started scolding her. “I tried to explain that I was not shouting at them, but one of them raised his phone to film me and said he would report me to the authorities,” she added.

According to a video taken by Ms Hu, one of the delivery riders was on a bicycle and filming her while she was busy explaining herself. The other rider was shouting and insulting her. Ms Hu later lodged a police report, and the police confirmed they received the call.

Faisal, one of the riders, said this was the second time he had seen Ms Hu riding dangerously, so he and his friend decided to confront her. He admitted they used vulgarities during the exchange, which led to both sides filming each other.

Faisal claimed that Ms Hu was riding on the pedestrian path, while he and his friend were on the cycling path.
