Looking Back at Last Year’s Announcements

In last year’s National Day Rally, Mr Wong unveiled several major initiatives.

One of the biggest was the SkillsFuture Jobseeker Support scheme, which provides retrenched workers with up to S$6,000 in temporary financial support over six months.

He also announced an additional 10 weeks of shared parental leave, aimed at giving families more support and encouraging parents to share caregiving responsibilities.

For housing, singles were given priority access when applying for new Build-to-Order flats if they chose to live with or near their parents.

On the sports front, Mr Wong revealed plans to relocate national sports training centres and the Singapore Sports School to Kallang under the Kallang Alive masterplan, an initiative to transform Kallang into a vibrant hub for sports and recreation, offering better facilities for both athletes and the public.

About the National Day Rally

Often regarded as the most important political speech of the year, the National Day Rally is when the prime minister outlines key policy directions and addresses national issues.

This will be Mr Wong’s second rally and his first since leading the People’s Action Party (PAP) to victory in this year’s General Election.
