A 25-year-old Chinese national has been arrested for allegedly stealing a bag from a business class passenger.
The incident happened on a flight from Dubai to Singapore. The police were notified at about 5:30 AM on a Friday (August 8).
What Happened
According to the police’s first look into the incident, the victim was asleep when his wife saw the man take their bag from the overhead compartment. The wife immediately confronted the man, and he put the bag back.
After the plane landed at Changi Airport, officers from the Airport Police Division questioned the man. He wasn’t able to give a good reason for his actions, and he was arrested before he could get on his next flight.
The man will be officially charged with theft on Sunday. If he is found guilty, he could face up to three years in jail, a fine, or both.
