Man Jailed After Forcing Victim to Drink Urine Over Frozen Bank Account Funds

Man Sentenced for Forcing Acquaintance to Drink Urine in "Deplorable" Bullying Case

A man has been jailed after he and his friend forced someone to drink urine, all because they wrongly thought he had stolen money from a frozen bank account.

What happen

Back in 2022, a 25-year-old man wanted to earn some fast cash. His friend introduced him to 28-year-old Tan Ming Chuan, who was looking for people willing to give up their bank accounts in exchange for money.

Tan was part of a scheme where he’d get up to S$1,000 per account provided. He kept a commission and passed the rest to the person surrendering the account.

Tan helped the man register a company and open a corporate bank account. The man then handed over the ATM card and banking details, which Tan passed to another man known only as Derrick.

Father found out and called the police

Soon, the 25-year-old man’s father noticed suspicious bank statements showing large money transfers. He brought him to the bank, and they reported the matter to the police. The account was frozen, with over S$25,000 still inside.

In total, more than S$147,000 flowed through the account.

The man didn’t get paid, and neither did his friend. But Tan did, and he spent his cut on drinking and clubbing.

After the man cut off contact, Tan and his friend Cheong Wee Kiat wrongly assumed he had taken the frozen money for himself.

One night in September 2022, the duo, along with a few others, showed up at the man’s block around midnight to confront him.

They demanded repayment. The 25-year-old explained that the money was frozen and promised to slowly pay it back. Still, Cheong allegedly punched him, and his friend transferred S$800 to them on the spot.

Forced to drink urine

As punishment, Tan and Cheong, with help from others, urinated into a 1.5-litre bottle and told the man to drink it or fight them.

Fearing for his safety, the 25-year-old man drank about three-quarters of it. Then, when they realised there was still some left, they ordered him to pour the remaining urine over his head. He did.

Tan even filmed the incident but later deleted the video.

Before leaving, Cheong took the man’s identity card and bank card as “collateral”.

The man made a police report the next day.

Jail time for Tan

On 6 August 2025, Tan was sentenced to 4 months and 8 weeks’ jail and fined S$300.

He pleaded guilty to criminal intimidation and a Computer Misuse Act offence. Another charge was taken into consideration.

The judge called the act “utterly deplorable”, saying the court must send a strong message against bullying and public humiliation.

Cheong’s case is still ongoing.

The 25-year-old man is also facing charges for his role in surrendering the bank account.
