In an alarming incident that unfolded in the heart of Hougang, a naked man was apprehended after allegedly causing chaos, including an attack on a civilian and injuring three police officers. The bizarre incident took place on Thursday afternoon, drawing considerable attention and concern from residents in the area.
According to eyewitness reports, numerous calls for assistance flooded the police hotline along Hougang Avenue 8, prompting a quick response from law enforcement. Upon arrival at the scene, officers were shocked to find a 22-year-old man sprinting around in the nude. The mayhem had ensued after the suspect allegedly assaulted a 30-year-old man in a frenzied attack.
As the startled officers attempted to arrest the erratic individual, the situation took a violent turn. The man reportedly armed himself with a wooden plank embedded with nails and launched an aggressive assault on the police. This led to three officers sustaining minor injuries in the line of duty, highlighting the dangers faced by law enforcement officials during routine operations.
Further complicating the situation, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) was summoned to the scene to provide medical assistance to the injured parties. One individual was rushed to Sengkang General Hospital for treatment, reflecting the severity of the injuries sustained during the chaotic encounter.
The perpetrator, identified as a 22-year-old man, was subsequently taken into custody by the authorities. He is facing charges of voluntarily causing harm through grievous means and impeding a public servant from carrying out their duties by inflicting harm. The swift and decisive action by the police led to the recovery of a knife and the wooden plank used in the assault, underscoring the importance of a prompt response to such volatile situations.
As investigations into the incident continue, the motives behind the naked man’s actions remain unclear, raising questions about mental health issues and the prevalence of such alarming behaviors in society.
