FairPrice Group has recently initiated a groundbreaking $1 million fresh protein initiative, with a primary focus on providing regular egg deliveries to around 46,000 beneficiaries by 2030. This endeavour is part of their ongoing commitment to ensuring that essential food items remain accessible to vulnerable groups in Singapore.
Alongside their charity division, FairPrice Foundation, the organization is diligently working towards distributing fresh protein in the form of eggs to various communities in need, including low-income families, seniors, and migrant workers.
According to a recent announcement by FairPrice Group, collaborating with charity and community partners is a key strategy to ensure the successful distribution of fresh protein to those who need it the most.
The move comes in response to FairPrice Group’s comprehensive study titled “A Full Plate: A Look At The Nutritional State Of The Nation“, which sheds light on the evolving food habits, preferences, and challenges faced by Singaporeans. The research revealed that low-income individuals express a preference for receiving fresh protein over processed or canned foods commonly found in food donation programs.
In support of the initiative, Mr. Vipul Chawla, the group chief executive of FairPrice Group and a board member of FairPrice Foundation, emphasized the importance of the Protein Pledge in bridging the food and nutrition gap for vulnerable communities. He stated, “Through the Protein Pledge, we want to help bridge the food and nutrition gap for those in need by improving their access to fresh protein, a critical part of any healthy diet.”
FairPrice Foundation has already secured the participation of several organizations such as Lions Befrienders, Children’s Aid Society, Migrant Workers’ Centre, and M3 in the Protein Pledge for 2025.
