Everything you need to know about the Taichung Fake Firefighter Controversy

In case you haven’t heard about it, recently hor, got one damn drama case happening in Taichung, Taiwan which involved a “fake firefighter” performing an “improper” cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) technique on a three-year-old boy who drowned in a bathtub with 20cm-deep-water.

As a result, of the improper CPR, the poor boy did not survive. According to reports, the CPR technique used by the “fake firefighter” was incorrect. Instead of pressing down on the boy’s chest, it was done on his stomach.

And now, the plot just keeps getting juicier because the “fake firefighter” named Yuki is suspected to be a Taiwanese man cosplaying to be a Japanese girl! NANI?!

What happened

So, it all started on 16 March 2025, when a 3-year-old boy almost drowned in a bathtub at his house in Taichung. While the boy’s family was panicking and trying to save the kid, suddenly one person, Yuki, who claimed to be a volunteer firefighter just happened to be around, and her help.

According to witnesses, Yuki quickly jumped in to perform CPR on the boy and seemed to be handling things like a pro. But then hor, later people start to feel something is not right.

As mentioned earlier, she was allegedly doing CPR on the boy’s stomach instead of the chest. And then the boy passed away.

Who is this firefighter named Yuki

Yuki claimed to be a 26-year-old Japanese woman, who supposedly studied nursing in Osaka and came to Taiwan 6 years ago. Now she says she’s staying in Taichung and just wants to help out as a volunteer firefighter. But here’s where things start to get super sus.

When reporters tried to speak to her in Japanese, her response was damn slow. Like as if she didn’t understand Japanese properly. Even more sus, when she replied to messages, she used Zhuyin input method – which is what Taiwanese people use to type Chinese. And that just didn’t add up. So of course, people started digging more about her background.

And here’s what they found

Yuki was convicted in 2022 for forging documents, sentenced to two months in prison, and later released on probation. And the biggest twist? Court documents show that Yuki is actually male!!!

The drama doesn’t end there. Turns out, last year in September, Yuki was also fired from a job at a restaurant called “魚吞壽司”, basically it’s a Japanese restaurant in Taichung. The boss fired her because she provided fake information when she applied for the job. Like wah piang eh, this person really got a habit of lying man. Just like some blue colour politician ah!

Now, the Taichung District Prosecutors Office is seriously looking into this case. They are investigating Yuki for document forgery and trying to see whether her actions during the rescue attempt were illegal or not. Also, how did someone with such a questionable background end up appearing at a rescue scene pretending to be a legit volunteer firefighter?

This case is making a lot of people in Taiwan very worried. They’re questioning whether volunteer rescuers have proper certifications or not. After all, when you’re trying to save lives, cannot just let anyhow people act like a hero right? Later make things worse how?

For now, if you ever need help, make sure the person helping you is really qualified. Otherwise, you kena scammed also don’t know!
