The nation right now mourns after the passing of Dr. Lee Wei Ling, the daughter of Singapore’s establishing Prime Minister, Lee Kuan Yew.
Based on the media reports, Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong, accompanied by his spouse Ho Ching, was seen paying their regards at her wake, held at Singapore Casket along Lavender Road. His son Li Hongyi also accompanied them to pay his respects to Dr. Lee Wei Ling.
They only attended the wake for 10 minutes before departing and also did not interact with the media while they were there.
Their presence, along with the other political figures such as Senior Minister Teo Chee Hean, MPs Denise Phua and Christopher de Souza, and previous MP Lily Neo, underscores the effect of Dr. Lee’s life and her family’s impact on Singapore.
The wake, which started at 2pm on Thursday, has to be attended by previous Workers’ Party MP Leon Perera and Singapore Law-based Party Chairman Paul Tambyah.
Dr. Lee’s passing, a result of her long fight with dynamic supranuclear paralysis, has started an overflowing of pity over the country. Colleagues from the National Neuroscience Founded, where she served as chief for a decade, have paid ardent tributes to her, recollecting her devotion to understanding care and clinical intuition.
Indeed her therapeutic classmates from the College of Singapore, lesson of 1978, have honoured her as a genuine companion and a trailblazer stamped by her keenness and dedication.
Reportedly, the wake will conclude at 1pm on Saturday, followed by the incineration at Mandai Crematorium.
The Lee family has gotten a wealth of bolster and blooms, confirming the permanent check Dr. Lee has cleared out on the hearts and minds of all who have benefitted from her care and devotion.
