A woman suspected her husband of hooking up with a masseuse after his behaviour suddenly changed. He refused to let her see his phone and often cancelled plans at the last minute. When she finally checked his phone, she was shocked to find messages between him and a Vietnamese woman.
To find out more, she sent a friend undercover to apply for a job at the massage parlour, suspecting that it could be a place offering “extra services.” Angry and heartbroken, she decided to share her story with Shin Min Daily News.
The woman, Ms Chen, 47, said she has been married for 11 years and has one son. She described her husband as a caring and responsible man who often took the family out and fetched their child from school every day.
But things started to change in early August. “He began hiding his phone from me, holding it in a way that I couldn’t see the screen. At first, I didn’t think much about it, but later his behaviour became more suspicious. He would suddenly cancel our dinner plans and claim he had things to do,” she said.
“We work together in an import and export business, and sometimes we exchange phones to check orders. When he started avoiding that, I felt something was off. So I checked his phone and found several messages between him and a Vietnamese woman.”
After she confronted him several times, he admitted that he met the woman when he went for a massage near their home.
Sends a friend to go undercover
To confirm what was really going on, Ms Chen asked a female friend to go undercover. The friend, who was about to return to her home country, applied for a job at the massage parlour located along Serangoon Road.
“My friend said that during her visit, the girls inside spoke openly about receiving tips of $50 or even hundreds from customers. For a normal massage, how could anyone get that much in tips?” Ms Chen shared.
Her husband later admitted to giving the woman a $50 tip after the massage, but insisted that he did not do anything inappropriate. He said he has already blocked her number. When Shin Min Daily News visited Ms Chen, her husband was also present and kept insisting that he was “innocent.”
Ms Chen said that since the massage parlour is less than a 10-minute walk from their home, she still finds it hard to believe her husband’s explanation, even though he claims to have ended all contact.
Massage parlour owner: Could be rivals trying to damage our reputation
The massage parlour owner, who did not want to be named, said they are running a legitimate business. Staff at the counter regularly check the rooms to ensure no illegal activities are happening inside.
He also said that the complaint might have come from a competitor jealous of their business success.
In response, Ms Chen denied this and said,
“I only wanted to find out the truth and win back my husband’s heart. That’s why I reported the matter.”
