Hong Junyang’s wife Candyce Toh stands by him after bankruptcy news, calls him “a man of courage and responsibility”

After news broke that Singaporean singer Hong Junyang had declared bankruptcy due to debts from his failed restaurant chain, his wife Candyce Toh took to social media to express her gratitude for the support they’ve received and to show unwavering support for her husband.

In a Facebook post on Tuesday (October 14), Candyce wrote that she was deeply moved by the messages and encouragement from friends, fans and the public.

She said,

“I may not have replied to every message, but I’ve read them all. Thank you for your support and encouragement. I’m truly grateful and I treasure every bit of it.”

Candyce shared that through this challenging period, she saw her husband’s strength and accountability.

“This incident showed me a man’s courage and responsibility. He bravely took on the consequences and stood firm. I also saw a husband who is deeply committed to his family and a father who loves his children dearly.”

She added that she is working hard to find a balance between family and career, even though it has not been easy. Candyce, who has been in the entertainment scene for years as a singer, host and DJ, is currently active on TikTok Live as well.

In the same post, Candyce ended with an emotional message to Hong Junyang, promising to stand by him no matter what:

“I will be yours in times of plenty and in times of want, in sickness and in health, in joy and in sorrow. I promise to cherish and respect you, to care and protect you, to comfort and encourage you, and stay with you, for all eternity.”

She signed off with the Chinese phrase “赤子之手,与子偕老,” which means “Hold your hand and grow old together.”

I’ve received so much care and concern from everyone, and it truly warms my heart and moves me deeply.

I’m sorry I couldn’t reply to each message, but I’ve read all your comments and private messages carefully.

Thank you for your support and encouragement. I’m truly grateful and I cherish every bit of your kindness. 🙏🏻

This incident has shown me a man’s courage and sense of responsibility.
He bravely faced everything and took on the consequences — that is both strength and courage.
I’ve also seen a husband who loves his family deeply and a father who treasures his children dearly.

I’m okay, really.
Right now, I’m doing my best to find a balance between family and work. It hasn’t been easy, but I’m trying my best.

Thank you to everyone who has supported me all this time.
Whether it was when I was singing, acting, hosting, working as a DJ, or now livestreaming on TikTok, thank you for always being there. I’m truly grateful to have you.

You give me the strength to keep moving forward, and I will continue to work hard.

Lastly, I want to end with a message to JY, something I promised you on our wedding day, and something I’ll hold true to for the rest of my life, no matter what comes our way.

I will be yours in times of plenty and in times of want, in sickness and in health, in joy and in sorrow… I promise to cherish and respect you, to care and protect you, to comfort and encourage you, and stay with you, for all eternity.
(I’ll) Hold your hand and grow old together (with you).

Background

Hong Junyang, who rose to fame on Project SuperStar, was declared bankrupt in September.

He revealed that he racked up debts after his restaurant chain, The Original Boat Noodle, ran into financial trouble during the COVID-19 pandemic. His other F&B ventures, including Oppa Kitchen, Bananabro and Caf, have also since closed.

Despite the setback, Hong has continued working in music and recently joined JJ Lin’s JJ20 world tour as a backing vocalist.
