Over 30 customers celebrate beer promoter’s birthday, buy 50 cartons of beer to support her

A group of over 30 loyal customers threw a surprise birthday celebration for a popular beer promoter at a coffeeshop in Ang Mo Kio, buying her several birthday cakes and 50 cartons of beer, matching her usual weekly sales.

A video circulating online showed the celebration happening last Thursday (Oct 2) at a coffeeshop in Block 526 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 10.

The place was packed as customers gathered to celebrate the birthday of the promoter known as “Cai Cai.”

In the clip, most of the guests were men, though a few women also joined in. They stood around Cai Cai, who was wearing a white uniform, and sang her a birthday song before taking photos together.

Another video showed her blowing out the candles and pulling out a long money chain hidden inside one of the cakes. According to reports, about $160 in cash was tucked inside as a surprise.

When Shin Min Daily News reporter visited the coffeeshop the next day (Oct 3), Cai Cai, whose surname is Chen, said it was her 37th birthday. She had invited some regular customers to join the celebration, while others showed up on their own to surprise her.

“They prepared seven or eight cakes for me, each with its own unique design. One of them even had a long money ring inside. Everyone had a lot of fun,” she shared.

The photos she provided showed the cakes in various creative designs. One even featured a fondant beer can “pouring” into a mug. The cakes were decorated with her name, “Cai Cai,” and three sets of numbers, which some joked could give them inspiration for 4D.

Cai Cai, who has worked in Singapore for over ten years, said she used to work at another nearby coffee shop before moving to the current one about a year ago. Some of her loyal customers followed her there, and over time, they became close friends.

“I’m really grateful for their support. We took photos, chatted, sang songs, and took turns blowing out the candles. It was very lively,” she said.

What touched her the most was how her sales soared that night. She sold more than 50 cartons of beer, or over 60 bottles in total.

“Usually, I sell only a few cartons on weekdays. On Fridays and weekends, I can sell about ten or more cartons a day. Selling more than 50 cartons in one night is like a whole week’s worth of sales. I’m really thankful to everyone who came to celebrate with me,” she added.
