A 44-year-old man was arrested after he was found lying drunk in the middle of the road in the early hours of Saturday morning, forcing several cars to brake and swerve to avoid him.
The incident happened around 2.25am last Saturday (October 4) along Serangoon Road near Block 102 Towner Road, reported Shin Min Daily News.
According to dashcam footage uploaded on the Facebook page Beh Chia Lor, a silver car was travelling in the second lane when the traffic light ahead turned green. Suddenly, the driver hit the brakes hard—there was a man lying motionless on the road right in front of the car.
The video sparked heated discussion online. Some netizens criticised the man’s reckless behaviour, saying he had not only endangered himself but also others. Others praised the driver’s quick reaction, which likely prevented a tragedy.
In response to media queries, the Singapore Police Force confirmed that they received a call for assistance. A spokesperson from SPF said that a 44-year-old man was arrested for drunkenness in public. The spokesperson added that no one was injured, and investigations are ongoing.
