South Korean crime analysis programme Curious Story Y has revealed countless disturbing cases since it first aired. In its latest episode, the show looked back at a shocking murder case where a 20-year-old influencer with 300,000 followers was killed, just 30 minutes after finishing her livestream.

Reportedly, when the preview of the episode was released, the horrifying case once again became the subject of heated discussion. The young influencer was attacked and strangled in early September, and her body was later abandoned deep in the mountains. The killer was a 50-year-old fan.

According to Korean media reports, the influencer, who was in her early 20s, usually connected with fans through TikTok.

On September 11, she was cruelly murdered. After she suddenly went missing, her anxious family reported it to the police. Eventually, her body was found in a mountain area. Investigators believe she died within 30 minutes after her last livestream ended, meaning she encountered danger almost immediately after signing off.

Following days of investigations, the police identified the suspect as a 50-year-old male fan.

He had approached the victim by calling himself an “SNS sponsor” and was even ranked as a level 46 VIP fan. To support her, he had donated an astonishing 100 million won (around SGD $91,496.50). He also claimed he could help boost her social media followers, which was how he managed to get close to her.

Initially, the 50-year-old man denied the crime. He insisted, “I only had a verbal argument with her before we went our separate ways.” But after being urgently arrested, he admitted to the crime. He confessed that he assaulted and strangled her, then placed her body in his car and drove it into the mountains to dispose of it.

What made the case even more shocking was that this was not the suspect’s first offence.

In December 2024, he had also targeted another livestreamer, a woman in her 20s known as C. She too suffered violence and was unlawfully imprisoned under his surveillance before finally managing to escape from his house and call for help.

Less than 10 months later, he committed this murder, sparking outrage over the brutality and the repeated crimes.
