What started as a seven-year affair ended in violence when a fitness coach turned into a stalker after his married lover broke things off.
Instead of moving on, 55-year-old Lin Dejin (transliteration) harassed his ex-lover at home, followed her and her husband, and even showed up at her workplace. According to Shin Min Daily News, the man was sentenced to two months and 12 weeks in jail on Thursday (September 25).
The victim, a 50-year-old beautician, was his ex-girlfriend from their teenage years. They dated when he was 18, but lost touch until reconnecting on Facebook in 2017.
Lin knew she was married, but they still started an affair, meeting two to three times a week at his place. Their relationship went on for about seven years before things turned sour.
That’s when he became aggressive. Between June 2023 and July 2025, the victim and her husband made three police reports.
In June 2023, Lin threw a neighbour’s flowerpot outside her home. CCTV later showed a man with his head wrapped in a towel. The victim recognised it was Lin and feared her husband would discover the affair.
In October 2024, Lin showed up outside her house at 3.52am after she didn’t pick up his calls. CCTV caught him taking photos outside her home. When her husband confronted her, she lied and said he was just a friend.
Things escalated further in April this year when she met him near Tan Tock Seng Hospital. Lin refused to let her go home and slapped her during a quarrel. She was forced to admit the affair to her husband and asked him to take her home.
Even after she blocked him on social media, Lin kept calling her office. In July, he turned up at her workplace, pulled her hair and arm, shoved her against a wall, and forced her towards the lift.
Members of the public called the police after witnessing the commotion, but the pair had already left by the time officers arrived.
