A Malaysian private driver was allegedly beaten up by a Singaporean man, leaving him with bruises, wounds across his body, and a serious injury where his left eye was pierced by a broken glass bottle.

The incident happened last Saturday (September 6) at an entertainment outlet in Taman Sentosa, Johor Bahru.

According to a report by China Press, a man who claimed to be the victim’s brother said that the Singaporean had hired his younger brother as a private driver on Wednesday (September 3), to drive from Kuala Lumpur to Johor Bahru. The brother later accompanied the group to the entertainment outlet in Taman Sentosa.

The victim’s brother said that one of the Singaporean’s friends accused his brother of stealing an e-cigarette and told him to squat down and search under the table. The victim followed the instructions, but as soon as he squatted, he was attacked.

“The man used a glass bottle to hit my brother’s head until the bottle broke, causing a head injury. But he did not stop, he even used the broken bottle to attack my brother’s eye,” he recounted.

He added that the attacker also tried to stab his brother’s neck and face, while repeatedly issuing threats to kill him and his family.

“When my brother tried to defend himself, he got injured. Almost all his fingers needed stitches and the tendon in his thumb was torn.”

Photos circulating online show the victim in a wheelchair, with stitches on his head, cuts on his face and blood in his left eye.

The man suspected of assault is believed to be from Singapore.

Checks on the company’s website show that it offers corporate and personal debt recovery services, as well as international recovery services. Its business covers Singapore, Malaysia (Johor Bahru, Kuala Lumpur and Penang), and Cambodia.

Reporters attempted to contact the company’s management this morning but did not receive a response by press time.

According to the report, the attacker is a Singaporean man in his 40s. He has since fled, and Malaysian police are now actively tracking him down and working to arrest him.
