A shocking incident happened at a coffeeshop in Yishun when a pigeon flew in, allegedly hit a ceiling fan, and dropped dead onto a dining table.
According to Shin Min Daily News, the incident took place on Sunday (August 31) around noon at Block 848 Yishun Street 81.
A video circulating online shows the pigeon lying lifeless on a table right beside a plate of steamed fish and rice.
Onlookers gathered around the scene, and a young boy was even seen stepping forward to take a closer look.
When reporters visited the coffeeshop the next day (September 1), an eyewitness, Mr Liu, 36, shared what he had seen. He was dining with his wife at the table next to it when he suddenly heard a loud bang.
“I looked over and saw the pigeon falling onto the table. It was really shocking,” he said.
At that moment, a woman and her son were eating at the very same table. They pushed aside their food after the bird fell.
“The pigeon died instantly. The mother and son didn’t touch the fish and rice after that, probably worried it was contaminated,” Mr Liu added.
Mr Liu, who frequents the coffee shop, said this was the first time he had encountered such an incident.
Reporters later observed three to four pigeons in the vicinity of the coffeeshop, though they did not seem to bother the other diners.
