19-year-old girl attacks 12-year-old sister with stone and knife to stop her from singing, both have autism

A 19-year-old girl plotted to injure her 12-year-old sister, who has autism and difficulties expressing herself, because she wanted to stop the younger girl from singing.

According to Shin Min Daily News, both sisters have autism, but the younger girl’s condition is more serious, and she struggles with communication.

On Thursday (Aug 28), the court sentenced the older sister to at least one year of reformative training. She faced four charges, including voluntarily causing hurt with a dangerous weapon and breaching a personal protection order.

She pleaded guilty to three charges, while the remaining one was taken into consideration.

What happened

The Family Court had already issued a protection order against the 19-year-old in August last year, ordering her not to use violence against her younger sister.

But on May 26 this year, between 5pm and 6.30pm, the two sisters were at home with their 73-year-old grandmother. While the grandmother was cooking in the kitchen, the younger girl was singing in her room.

The older sister had been secretly planning for two days to hurt her sibling badly enough that she would end up hospitalised, hoping this would scare her into never singing again.

She brought a 6cm-wide stone into her sister’s room and locked the door to keep their grandmother out. She then struck her sister’s forehead twice, causing her to cry out in pain. When their grandmother asked what happened, the older sister lied, claiming the girl had accidentally hit her head against the wall while using her phone.

Not giving up, the older sister then carried out the next step of her plan after dinner. While her grandmother was not paying attention, she took a kitchen knife with an 11cm blade. She then brought her sister into her own room again and locked the door.

Inside, she slashed her sister’s back and legs with the knife, leaving her with multiple injuries.
