A reader submission sent to Sure Boh on 24 August 2025, 7.01pm, showed a less-than-appetising sight at BreadTalk HQ — a floss waffle on display that appeared to be covered in mould.
Photos taken at the outlet show the floss waffle, priced at $3.10, wrapped in cling film with visible greenish and whitish patches on its surface. The waffle was placed in the display counter alongside other food items.
In the submission, the reader asked: “Display product can display mouldy waffle ah?” expressing concern over hygiene and food safety.
Netizens respond
The post quickly drew attention online, with many netizens shocked that such a product was allowed to remain on display. Some questioned if staff had overlooked the condition of the food.
